WHY DO WE GO?
At Kirby Woods, we want to be a church that has seeks Kingdom Impact. Jesus Christ is King, and our labors in this world should contribute to the expanse of His Kingdom. Therefore we are committed to evangelism, discipleship, missions, and seeing Christ glorified in all the earth.
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” - Matthew 28:18-20
The following are statements from church members on why going on a mission trip has been impactful in their lives:
"I knew of the term 'TCK' (third-culture kid) before my mission trip to Switzerland, but I was blessed to experience some of its impacts at Euroventure. Over a hundred kids, representing about thirty countries, all converged upon the camp site in a great one-week exchange of knowledge and experience. Through this unique opportunity, the Holy Spirit worked in their lives to share more of Himself and what He has for them. The need for ministry was evident. 'Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.' (Matthew 9:38)" - Katie Few (Switzerland 2024)
"The short-term mission field is a place where the view of everyday life tends to fall away, and perspective on the great need for a savior comes into view. Having gone with KWBC on mission has been encouraging to see how one person can give there yes to Jesus and how God then allows the gospel to go forth in a dark culture that worships satanic forces. Yes there is certainly evil in the world, and you see it when on mission, but you can also see God working His redemption into the lives of those around the globe." - Jonathan Weaver (Pacific Rim 2024)
"Missions have impacted my life in such a profound way. God has used mission trips/opportunities to break my heart for what breaks His, and as a way to open my eyes to see the brokenness we live in. God used my trips to Boston specifically to help me see the world the way He does but also to teach me what it means to live on mission where I am." - Grant Ayres (GenSend Boston 2024)
